Thom Hartmann is talking about this column on his radio show today. He points out that there is a very big difference between how THC is absorbed into the body depending on how one ingests it: smoking pot is a very different thing from consuming edible pot, simply because of the way it is absorbed. Neophyte pot users should ALWAYS get dosing advice from an expert before consuming it either way, but especially when ingesting an edible. Also, a caller to the radio show pointed out a fact that is true in my experience: THC is an unusual drug in that the body has to get used to the drug before one will feel any symptoms. I had to smoke pot 3 times before feeling any symptoms and the first time I felt some it only made my tongue numb and then gave me the munchies. Also, there are just some unlucky folks out there like me ~ and, it sounds like Ms. Dowd ~ for whom pot just is never a fun experience. With one single exception, every time I ever tried pot after those initial 3 attempts, over the span of 3 decades, it ALWAYS gave me a panic attack. This was not due to the setting in which I consumed it or my company at the time. It is just the way the drug interacts with my brain. While Ms. Dowd never explicitly states this, all this suggests that she is not a veteran pot user, but that she had ingested in the past at some point but that this time she ingested far too much THC because she did not know how to portion the dose she ingested of the brownie.
