Thomas Pray, Diana Jenkins and a few others: Today one of my sisters was complaining again about stores being opened on Thanksgiving, blaming retailers for peoples difficulties. She basically was saying these business people were the cause of hers and others being offended. My first reaction was to set the record straight and reminder her that to be offended is a choice. I told her she was misplacing her perpetual anger. As much as I disagree with her constant belittling of the world and laying fault at the feet of others I also recognized my response was shallow. A lit candle flickers with the same brightness no matter wherever it is placed. When placed under a bushel, as the Savior said, it what weakens the light it casts. I chose to delete my chastising comments, but that was after too many shadows had been spread. Despite whatever walls shade our vision, in spite of the thunder of repulsion of world things...in the pockets of our security and comfort are hidden the treasures which matter most when revealed in the light of forgiving all offenses and forgetting temporary darkness that covers our eyes of faith.
