Thompson has probably never issued a bad album, but I found his later Capitol albums to be a little too slick for my liking. This song comes from his Across a Crowded Room album in 1985, which I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in a small club in Vancouver around this time. Has there ever been a finer lyric in a break-up song than ...love letters you wrote, get pushed back down your throat and leave you choking?
