Thoroughly shampooing, conditioning and moisturizing my hair is a - TopicsExpress

Thoroughly shampooing, conditioning and moisturizing my hair is a task. When entering the shower, I have to immerse my head under the shower head to ensure all my locs are wet...I do this for about 3-5 minutes. After that, I dilute my shampoo (which doesnt have any sulfates, paraffins, phthalates, parabens, propylene glycol or synthetic fragrances) so it can get into my locs easily. I section my hair, start with my scalp and patiently work my way down. After massaging the shampoo into my locs, which can easily take 10-15 minutes, I rinse and rinse and rinse and rinse until Im sure all the product is out. I repeat the shampoo process 2-3 times depending on how my hairs looks, feel and what Ive been doing with it prior to washing. Once that step is done, I prepare to condition my hair. At this point, the shower water is usually lukewarm and my fingers are starting to prune. For my hair, the conditioner must be rich, thick, uber moisturizing, have slippage, and be easy to penetrate my locs. Once my hair locs are full of conditioner, Ill usually pineapple my hair and wash my body all over again. After about 5-10 minutes, I rinse and rinse, and rinse til all the conditioner is out. Finally, I touch my beautiful, long, locs to ensure theyre soft, pliable and to my liking. I wring my hair out for a few minutes and masterfully wrap it in a towel to soak up the excess water. Thats where I am now. The towel has been on my head for about 20 minutes, and Ill soon take it down, add some essential oil concoction to my damp hair to lock in the moisture, add shine and luster. Because its winter, Ill have to blow dry my hair and wait until its about 80 percent dry. Shout out to all my folks who have similar wash/styling regimens. Its a labor of love but I wouldnt trade it for the world.
