Those clever Brits, writing in The Economist, pointed out that our years of unbridled Gerrymandering have advanced mostly candidates who tend to be extremely left or right, to secure the most votes from their respective party bases that make up most of their home districts. Having more balanced districts would require the successful candidates to play to the middle, thus reducing extremism. Great insight. Sometimes that outside viewpoint offers a lesson.
