Those pebbly blue readers donned by Hobbes in my profile photo will forever remind me of my friend. Our last conversation was a mundane one, comparing the merits of monovision contacts versus readers. Pat recommended the direction cute little readers, as he had. Pat was one of the first people I met the day I moved into Hayden Hall at NYU. He was a true friend from the start, always there for all the ups and downs. He was the source of so much joy and folly. He got me through the darkest days with coffee and cab fare for the ride back to the Bowery in the middle of the night. He eventually became a roommate in that fabled apartment across from CBGB, next to Fred Gwynne (Herman Munster) and his giant dog. It has taken all week to put together any coherent words and nothing feels like enough. He was an incredible, creative artist. His wit, his wisdom, his friendship will be missed.
