Those who I spent the week with on RAGBRAI and also at the Benson reunion were likely aware of the pain and swelling I was experiencing with my left foot. I called my Ortho Drs office this morning for an appt. and they squeezed me in this afternoon. X-ray shows an old but recurring small bone / tendon tear on the little toe and I managed to irritate it a few days before leaving for Iowa. Its happened in the past but usually goes away after a few days - NOT THIS TIME! I could ride the bike just fine, but walking hurt like hell. Midweek the whole foot swelled up like a balloon. Fortunately Dr. McFarland knew just what to do and a shot of cortisone has worked wonders in the past few hours. Swelling is almost all gone and the pain is decreasing. Hope tomorrow is better!
