Though her credibility to raise this question itself is under question (as she herself is part of the system/industry which objectifies women and provokes men) and the timing is also impeccable..in view of her released movie..(I wonder where was she and her conscious till now)..the points she raised are however must be considered highly. This is one of the most important issues in todays lndia along with corruption bribery dowry honor killing etc..and must be handled with due care and sensitivity. As a citizen I am concerned about my kins and the future of our society..but we must think before we act (hang in this case). If only making an example, life imprisonment or capital punishment was the way to prevent crime, we would have already got rid of many crimes along with terrorism. If proven of guilty for physical harraament in condemned manner..no doubt severest punishment should be the only option. But what about the other versions..where theres no direct way to prove the guilt..the less physical ones..we just cant go by someones accusations..it might well be largely misused like other women protection acts..aka 498A. We have to think on the deeper reasons..and ways to change the mindset of people..to eliminate it from the root..education is surely one of them..we might well take a queue from the foreign countries..where women feel safer..though statistics shows otherwise. I do feel the current age of movies/ads and widespread internet has an increasing impeact on minds of people..but theres nothing we can do about it. The way I see it..socioeconomic advancement, good family values, education, awareness along with punishments are the way ahead.
