Thought for 5th March, 2014...STEP BY STEP TAKES YOU THERE... In Nigeria we have a fable where it was told that the tortoise and the dog was one day sent on errand to heaven. The dog swift as it is ran off and was far ahead in miles to the crawling tortoise. But you know the dog with its phoney ways was smelling all the nooks and cranny and got caught up eating excreta, when the tortoise got past and got to heaven before he could remember that he was on a mission. The moral of the story is two-pronged. One is that the tortoise was slow but steady- he never lost focus of his goal. Two, he never gave up even when the dog was far and ahead. So many of us are like the dog. We have the agility and ability but do not have the equanimity. We get excited over an idea and goal and bam! we fizzle out just before we start. Hear Henry Thoreau: If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. Very striking words you will say. He also said that lots of men, lead lives of quiet desperation. That is very true if we look at the Nigerian situation. A lot of us are working like elephants and eating like ants. Now you ask yourself-what is my vision in life? Do I have set goals?.These are questions that are very core to life existence. James Allen warned that, the vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart-this you will build your life;this you will become. So you ask yourself what vision? If there is no WHAT then that vision need to be reframed. Just start as I have started, and do it step by step. The problem in our clime is that people expect you to be successful overnight. The truth however is that success is not what people say, it is what you say of it. Your success will surely come if you continue and never give up. Remember that each step you take matters to the dream you have...cheers!!!
