Thought for the Day....Most of you know Ashley has been in a residential clinic since last December. She spent the majority of the time in LA as there wasnt room at the Anne Sippi Riverside Ranch in Bakersfield. She moved to Bakersfield right after Brookes wedding and has been improving daily. It has been so much easier on Neil and I as far as driving and to see her improve on her life skills is so wonderful. Today she called and said they went to church, which usually consists of about 8-10 clients. If they perform all their duties for the week they can attend outings. Ashley really enjoys going afterwards they go out for lunch. A big thrill for her. She always puts money in the donation tray, and today she said they put enough in as a group to buy a less fortunate family a turkey for Thanksgiving. A less fortunate family is what she said. I started to cry after I hung up the phone. I am such a sapp these days.... whaaaaa. Most of the clients there have no family. Most of them have no visitors, have no loved ones that care for them, some are even deaf and are also suffering with mental illness. Yet, some of them are the most generous kindest people I have met. I go to visit Ash often, of course I have attached to many. I bring in small gifts, water, cupcakes, soda sometimes, and to see the joy it brings is priceless. I am so thankful for the wonderful Staff. Its a tough job being a caretaker. This Christmas is going to be small. All the kids are doing their own thing this year. Neil and I are going in with another parent at the Ranch to provide gifts for all the clients. They are in need of so much. If anyone would like to help donate a pair of slippers, or board game let me know as I will be collecting until Christmas. I will have shoe sizes shortly. There are only 4 women, the rest are men.
