Thought for the Day: Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, - TopicsExpress

Thought for the Day: Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?” And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” Matthew 7:21-23 Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship with the living Lord Jesus Christ, a relationship which grows deeper and more intimate as the believer invests time in Bible study, prayer, worship, and lives in obedience to our Lord’s commands. Our Lord not only listens to what we say, is totally aware of how we practice our faith, He also looks into our heart and is aware of our motives, why we do and say. He has sent the Holy Spirit who lives in our heart, and it is He who calls to mind the Scriptures we read, who whispers that quiet, “That is not the right path; caution, the enemy is about to lure you into disobedience here; apologize for that hasty response you uttered in anger and pride” ... and you get the picture. There is no substitute for a daily time with our wonderful Lord Jesus, reading, studying His word, pouring out our heart to Him in prayer, for it is absolutely true that time invested in His Word will keep us from sin; and it is also true that sin will keep us from His Word. Having trouble reading, studying the Bible? It could be that the Holy Spirit has put His finger on a misdeed, sinful conduct either of omission or commission. The only remedy is to run to Him, fall on our knees in repentance, confess the sin, change the conduct which has so offended Him, and receive His forgiveness. Suddenly, the desire to read, study, pray, worship is restored with ever increasing delight! Hugs, Betty
