Thought for the day, Among other things, I subscribe to a website called “Conservative Intelligence”. Last week I received an e-mail that, in addition to their normal begging-for-money (as the democrats also do) they said that in the Virginia governor’s race, the Democrat Terry McAuliffe and the Republican Ken Cuccinelli statistically tied. I was always taught that in statistics, the error rate is +/- 3 percentage points, so I did a little research. The website “Real Clear Politics” is the place I go for objective polling data (the site is 51% owned by Forbes, that notorious left wing rag). Real Clear Politics are saying Cuccinelli is behind McAuliffe between 7% and 10%. realclearpolitics/epolls/2013/governor/va/virginia_governor_cuccinelli_vs_mcauliffe-3033.html The only poll I can find that shows a statistical tie is from Newsmax, a notoriously conservatively biased site. Their poll was taken in late September before the Government shutdown so their data was over 2 weeks old. BTW, on October 12, Conservative Intelligence published a blog that Republican Steve Lonegan was within 3% of Democratic Booker in the New Jersey Senate race. In the October 15 election, Booker won by 55% to 44%. Republicans make stuff up.
