Thought for the day: Christmas. There are a fair few people on my fb who dont enjoy celebrating Christmas for a number of reasons, some I imagine due to its comercialization. Im not religious in any way, and whilst my mum is slightly religious, our household overall never really has any Christian focus. Despite this, we *LOVE* Christmas and I love Christmas tunes. Christmas is the time I get to come home after being away for a long time and spend it with the family with good food and cheesy feel good films like Its a Wonderful Life without having to worry too much about deadlines or schoolwork. I get cool presents and I get to give cool presents to my parents. It is by far one of my favorite times of the year and yet I dont ascribe to any of its religious aspects. Its lead me to wonder, is it ok to celebrate Christmas as basically a secular holiday? Do you also love Christmas despite not being religious? Do you dislike it precisely because you are religious and too many people celebrate it without doing it justice? Thoughts courtesy of a wandering mind.
