Thought of the Day: What did Jesus preach? Jesus didn’t - TopicsExpress

Thought of the Day: What did Jesus preach? Jesus didn’t preach about healing, he just healed. Jesus didn’t preach about deliverance, he just cast out demons. Jesus didn’t preach about being born again, he mentions it twice when he was preaching about the Kingdom of God. So what did he preach? Jesus preached the Kingdom of God seventy-seven times and the Kingdom of Heaven thirty-two times so that totals one hundred and nine times. In Luke 4:43 Jesus himself defines his purpose for coming; Luke 4:43 “but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” So if his purpose was to preach the kingdom of God should we be preaching the kingdom of God more. We have put a tremendous emphasis on being born again (and people must be) but let’s take a closer look at why we must be born again. John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” We have just read over the reason to be born again and that reason was SO WE COULD SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Then in John 3:5-7 Jesus again defines why we must be born again “Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.” If we are not born again then WE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD. We have interpreted that when we die will enter the kingdom. If we can see it then it implies we are in it. The kingdom of God was and is and is to come. Luke writes in Acts about the last 40 days of Jesus life and what he was preaching. Acts 1:2-3 “until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.” Jesus spends his last forty days speaking about the KINGDOM OF GOD. Paul spent the last two years of his life preaching what? Acts 28:30-31 “Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.” What about Acts 19:8 “And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. ”Acts 20:24-25 “But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. “And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more. Acts 28:23 “So when they had appointed him a day, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he explained and solemnly testified of the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning till evening.” Then we have Colossians 4:10-11 “Aristarchus my fellow prisoner greets you, with Mark the cousin of Barnabas (about whom you received instructions: if he comes to you, welcome him), and Jesus who is called Justus. These are my only fellow workers for the kingdom of God who are of the circumcision; they have proved to be a comfort to me.” They were workers for THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Is it possible that since we do not preach the kingdom of God that we don’t see 1 Corinthians 4:20 “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.”
