LOCAL...... What: Rally Where: 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Melbourne Time: 5:00pm-6:30pm Date: Friday October 4, 2013 As you are well aware, the government has initiated a shut-down that began on October 1, 2013. There are many who believe that this was a bullying tactic on part of a majority of conservatives in Congress to do as they say or else. While we respect that there are many differing opinions on laws such as the Affordable Care Act the end result is that their actions have hurt more than it has helped. In this area alone there are thousands of people affected including those at Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Base. These actions will inevitably affect the surrounding areas with loss of income, loss of revenue from that income and put the livelihoods of those families in jeopardy. Some will not receive any monies until this act has been reversed. Even moreso, some may not be paid retroactive which could place them in a difficult place during these harsh economic times. The Space Coast AFL/CIO is asking for your help as we prepare to rally for our brothers and sisters within the union and community. After all, the union is the community. Within the next two days we are asking for help with signs and preparation to rally, mailouts, and phone calls to Congress to get our people back to work. Please join us in this combined effort to let Congress know that we are not happy with their decision and we want them to know it.
