Thought of the Day: What was the message that Jesus - TopicsExpress

Thought of the Day: What was the message that Jesus preached? Then the next question are we preaching it? Did you know that in the New Testament we see the phrase Kingdom of God 77 times, we see the phrase Kingdom of Heaven 34 times and the gospel of the Kingdom 5 times so that’s a total of 116 times. By the way we see the phrase born again 3 times and 2 of the scriptures were in reference to the Kingdom of God. Jn 3:3 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Ok so if we are born again we should be able to see the Kingdom of God. Jn 3:5 “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. When we are born again we ENTER NOW the Kingdom of God. Why is it we only emphasized being born again when the context of the 2 verse is about the Kingdom. So why have we emphasized being born again (3 verses) and nor emphasized Kingdom of God (116 verses) What did Jesus preach? Mark 1:14-15 “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom[a] of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” What gospel was He talking about? The gospel of the Kingdom of God. Luke 4:43 “He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” Jesus said He must preach the kingdom of God and he said this is the very purpose he was sent. When he sent out the twelve what did He say to them? Luke 9:1-2 “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Notice He gave them power and authority to preach what? The kingdom of God. When He sent the 70 out what did He say to them? Luke 10:8-11 “Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whatever city you enter, and they do not receive you, go out into its streets and say, ‘The very dust of your city which clings to us[a] we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near you.” Acts 1:3 “He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.” After His resurrection He spent 40 days speaking about the kingdom of God. Imagine the final word to them for 40 days was the Kingdom of God. Paul preached what? Acts 19:8 “And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.” For 3 months his message kingdom of God. At the end of Paul’s life his message was? Acts 28:30-31Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him. What did Philip preach in Samaria? Acts 8:12 “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.” Philip preached the kingdom of God.
