Thought(s) for the day: Have you ever felt like the underdog or the last one chosen for everything. Well let me tell you, you are in good company. In the book of I Samuel we see the story of David the shepherd boy versus Goliath of Gath. Goliath, according to scripture stood about 9 feet 9 inches and all is armor and weaponry weighed in around 318 lbs. He was a skilled warrior from youth. In modern day just like back then, the odds would have heavily favored Goliath. His opponent was a shepherd boy named David. He was the youngest son of Jesse number eight in line. In fact when Samuel sent for Jesses kids to find out who the anointed one would be, David was the only one that was not summoned. Goliath made everyone afraid even King Saul. Correction, everyone but one person, David. David believed with God on his side he could defeat Goliath. Look what David says right before the battle with Goliath: 1 Samuel 17:46-47 (KJV), 46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORDS, and he will give you into our hands. David is so bold that he predicts victory because he has found favor with God. What about today have you found favor with God? We all have Goliaths that stand in our way, but with God on your side the battle becomes the Lords and He will and you will victoriously prevail. Challenge: instead of seeing obstacles view them as opportunities that simply must be overcome. Remember that God uses uncommon, unlikely, and sometimes even unqualified people to do the unimaginable, unspeakable, and unfathomable through others for His glory.
