Thought that seen as it is Fathers day that I would put this on as the first poem to be inserted on here..... Oh Father Wasted years, far from you, a relationship broke in two, oh how I miss you. You tried to teach me, the things I needed to know, but I would never show. I tried to listen like I should, but teenage life was so good, I was always in a mood. You thought I was lazy and a bit of a clown, as I was always out on the town I should have listened, and taken care, as one day you may not be there. I was honoured to have you as a father but I did not realise until well after, You would tell me with your voice so stern, that immortality was not a choice, Did I listen, did I care, if only I knew then that your knowledge was there to share, Twenty nine was my age, I never listened, and I wish I had, because you were my dad, Time they say waits for no man, I only wish you could have stayed, now I feel betrayed. Now you are gone, I am by your side, if only I could, confide, tell you of my love inside, To be able to put our arguments off to one side, be together just for one last time, As my tears begin to fall, my heartbreak is shown to all, oh father I loved you after all, Why did I not realise this, I held on to your hand, tears flowing, trying to understand How this pain that I feel, can be so real, what happened on this day is all so surreal. The hearse arrives all shiny and black, a poignant reminder that there’s no turning back, Life will never be the same, all my thoughts are as lame as he goes towards the flame This is it, my last farewell my heart is broken or can you not tell, this is hell, Trying to be calm and trying to be strong, mother is here heartbroken as well, Farewell my hero, farewell my friend, I will love you always right to the end. I do hope that you like this, it is very personal to myself and I hope that some people can connect with it.
