Thought you might like to see some pics from our European tour this year, first stop was Le Mans for the Classic races. This is for all classic race cars that have either raced or would have raced at Le Mans in the 24 Heurs Du Monde & is split into various categories depending on year. Whilst they dont actually race for 24hrs, racing does go on well into the early morning, although only for the later year classes. After this we travelled on towards Germany & our final stop at Bernkastel-Kuez on the Moselle river. On the way we stopped overnight in Reims, after detouring off to see the remains of the old road race circuit at Gueux, near Reims. The circuit closed in 1972 & there is now a Friends Of organisation trying to raise funds to restore the remaining buildings still there. Google the name for loads of info & even the restoration organisation website & info, all in English. The buildings are the old pit boxes at the side of the road where we parked the cars, opposite is the main grandstand linked by a tunnel under the road & behind the pits are a few more outbuildings. The frame structure in the last pic is the rotating scoreboard. The signage looks fresh because they have a reunion meeting every ten years & have spruce up for the inevitable pics. In fact whilst we were stopped there, some local supercars stopped by as did a group of English registered sports cars, all for a photo session like us!!
