#ThoughtforThursday #health #wellbeing #crashdiet #eatclean #personaltrainer #highgate My thoughts on crash diets Weight loss is an issue that seems to make rational and intelligent people do irrational things, like put themselves on faddy crash diets to get quick weight loss results. The problem I have with this style of weight management is it’s not looking at the bigger picture, which is possibly a symptom of modern society as a whole – but that’s a topic for another day. Yes, you may lose 7lbs in a week, but a week of pain does not address the long term habits surrounding food that have been ingrained into your psyche. It does not educate you about real nutrition and learning how to truly feed the body. It does not even burn body fat (in most cases fluid reduction and lean muscle tissue depletion will be why the scales look better). The truth is that if you wish to lose body fat, improve your health and improve your diet it takes dedication, patience, planning, a willingness to educate yourself and an attitude that is determined to see real behaviour change happen over time. If you are not willing to put the effort in and stay strong even when you fall off the horse, you will be in for a lifetime of disappointment and most likely be on a crash diet/weight gain cycle your whole life. Stay healthy...
