Thoughts of my parents abound when I am on South Padre Island. They brought us here as a family at least 15 times in the 80s and 90s, and it was as much a haven for them as it was for all of us. So many magical times and great memories here. At both of my parents funerals, the following Scripture was read: Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (Colossians 3:12-14) Put on love. That was them. That is what they were all about. So imagine my delight when, just two days before I left for this trip, I found this great waterproof bracelet that said, Put on love. I have worn it every day as a reminder of their boundless love and everlasting presence. Thanks be to God. #missingthem
