Thoughts on WM30. If you asked me in January after the Rumble how WM30 was shaping up, I would reply that it was in dire problems. Since then, the match card is shaping up better, its not great, but better than what it could have been. I am loving the HHH and Steph McMahon angle with Bryan, all participants are playing their roles great and the match is shaping up to be a great one. The stipulation is brilliant on who will advance, personally, make it a draw and make the main event a fatal four way, but it has added that unknown factor for the bout. This match will elevate Bryan, much like the shock ending between HHH and Cena at WM22, and if Bryan could not have been in the main event from the beginning, this is the next best match for him to have. Steph needs to be involved in this match somehow. The Championship was in absolute trouble with only Orton and Batista. I dont have an issue with these two as individuals, but for this previously to be the main event at the 30th anniversary was a joke. A boring match. Batista did not earn the spot and Orton would have been better off as a proper heel within the mid-card this time around. Bryan in the main event would have made for better opportunity right away but since the dreaded Rumble outcome, it has been a good recovery. I am happy it is a triple threat, if this is the best way they could fix this, but still, the championship could have been better booked. CM Punk issue. I have no concerns with Punk walking out on the company, I understand he was burnt out, I understand he worked his ass off and his opinion of others who come in who dont deserve a WM spot take the opportunity of others and I understand if he is ticked off with the companys management and backstage politics. However, having said that, CM Punk should have finished his contract in a professional manner or returned for one more match at WrestleMania. He should have had the bout with HHH (and then you put Bryan in the championship match) and then take time off afterwards. WWE should have given Punk leave after his Lesnar bout at SummerSlam for a return at the Rumble. I am still on Punks side, but he is now letting the fans down by not showing at WM30, and not to follow company directive while possibly offending HHH by not having that match. Lets not also forget that Vince has been very patient with Punk, even paid royalties for his theme music, money in the bank and signed a new contract with him during money in the bank after that RAW pipe bomb shoot. There is 1 week left for CM Punk to do the right thing and be involved in WrestleMania, after April 6, it wont matter anymore. I am also sure that Steve Austin somewhat regrets his walk out over a decade ago and wishes he handled that better. I am looking forward to Bray V Cena, but their build up has been a bit of a miss. Why is Cena afraid of Bray? Why? The guy took on Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules. Bray has built up a presence in the ring and his work as of the last few months has been awesome. Cena has no reason to win this match, it will be better for Bray to win, but anything can happen. The whole Wyatt family in New Orleans will be fantastic. I originally thought this is more of a SummerSlam type of match, but since then, I am looking forward to this more and more. It will be a passing of the torch so to speak. Bray also needs to match Cena one on one with no interference. Brock V Taker. This will be a great match but the build up has been terrible. What has WWE done to make us believe Lesnar can beat Taker? Nothing really. I know they want to protect Takers health prior to the event, so have Lesnar take out other superstars in the meantime, just dont waste booking dates with Lesnar for a promo, or a purple light stunt only, make him do something! This may be the match of the night (so could HHH V Bryan) and I dont think Taker will fall to Lesnar, not after going through Michaels and HHH. Looking forward to Paul Heyman ringside also, his work, in ring mic work and promos have been terrific. If WWE splits Heyman and Lesnar in the future it will be a dumb decision, these two work so well together. Divas title. AJ V all the Divas? Really? Why? Have AJ V Natalya in a one on one confrontation. Have a proper Divas match! I sure hope this isnt some kind of punishment for AJ as she is dating CM Punk, I really hope not, because that is petty. Heck, even get Trish back to have a match against AJ, or Steph McMahon, but not all the Divas, that is something you see on RAW, not a WrestleMania. Andre battle royal. A lazy excuse to include as many superstars on the card as possible. Something you would see on SmackDown. 30 in the ring at the same time is just meh. Make it a mini-royal rumble at least, or something. Forget that Money In The Bank has its own PPV and put this type of match on! It may also be a type of match for a preshow. Kane and The New Age Outlaws V Shield. Sigh. Apart from being HHHs buddies (like Orton and Batista by the way), why are The New Age Outlaws here? Seriously, why? Kane would have been better booked as a ringside guard during HHH V Bryan and would have made more sense. Have that triple threat with the Shield instead or have Reigns V Kane and the remainder in the tag team match. Rollins and Ambrose will turn against Reigns anyways during this match. Tag team championships... Again this is a sigh. Usos V Goldust and Cody would have been better, even Swagger and Cesaro - even a fatal fourway! Not sure what is happening with the Tag Team situation at the moment, but it needs to be improved and more stable with bookings. Finally, have some NXT matches in the pre show, you have 2 hours this time...have 2 matches! Overall, WM30 is shaping up to be better than it was looking like 3 months ago, I am looking forward to it. I guess the final product will prove itself come April 6. P.S - It would be nice to have an appearance from Vince as well, a chance to say thankyou for another 10 years since 20 in NYC.
