Thoughts on my thoughts? It is necessary for families to commit to true churches that preach the whole Bible faithfully, administer the sacraments rightly, and properly exercise formative and corrective discipline. God builds the churches as interdependent communities with a multiplicity of gifts and layers of protection, under the oversight and protection of godly elders, for the glory of Jesus Christ. Individualistic patriarchy could express itself in two ways. One father alone could withdraw from the true church to isolate his wife and children at home and keep them from the oversight of legitimate authorities in the Church of Jesus Christ. Or, a few like-minded fathers, of the same independent spirit and belief, could establish a church, agreeing to isolate wives and children under the authority of each individual patriarch, thus keeping them from the oversight of legitimate authorities in the Church of Jesus Christ.
