Three enterprising schools have been brought together to produce - TopicsExpress

Three enterprising schools have been brought together to produce an enterprise-style board game as part of the Hull City Council, Humber LEP and Hull Youth Enterprise Partnerships contribution to the Lord Young review into enterprise education. Sirius Academy, Malet Lambert School and Gillshill Primary School were approached to design the game after Lord Young had asked for models of good practice. The games features the Humbers work including the BE Enterprising Group of teachers and tutors and the Big 13 Enterprise Skills and illustrating. It also represents the fabulous support available in Hull for young people to develop their enterprising ideas and become successful entrepreneurs of the future…or indeed enterprising employees. In addition to the support from the schools, local successful young entrepreneurs have come together to offer support and advice to the students. They include Phil Benson (co-founder of Xing Smoothies), Tom Arran (owner of TArran Photo), Amanda Hartley (successful entrepreneur) and Katie Norman (Owner of Lab Rascals) and are helped by Hannah Crookes (Prospect Training). With such an enterprising group of people, this is one of the most exciting projects Engaging Education has delivered, and is a truly unique experience for the students involved. In one session, students fully designed the board game in-line with their brand and included supporting rules and question cards covering the Big 13 skills and the support available for young people across Hull. It will now be produced and presented to Lord Young. Ross Bennett Chair of Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership said: We welcome the opportunity to contribute to this important review led by the Governments Enterprise Champion Lord Young with our colleagues at the Humber LEP. We looked for an innovative way of approaching this and so commissioned young entrepreneurs and three Hull schools to develop the board game that highlights what is working in Hull to support our enterprising young people. We looked to include Youth Enterprise Bank, £5 Blossom, Global Entrepreneurship Week, Badgers Sett Enterprise Challenge Big 13 enterprise skills and young chamber to name but a few. This was a fantastic project showcasing not only the support and dedication across Hull for supporting enterprising young people but willingness from education, the council and local young businesses to help give young people the best possible chance in making their enterprise ideas grow and succeed. Johnny Wootton, Project Lead, Engaging Education said: It was great to be asked to deliver such an exciting workshop. This was to demonstrate the support available for young people across Hull, incorporating the BIG13 Skills and some business success stories! It was hosted by Sirius Academy and saw students from within the school, Malet Lambert School and Gillshill Primary come together to work on the project. This commitment helps raise the aspirations of young people and opens new opportunities for them to develop those vital big 13 skills. Without the work of Hulls Youth Enterprise Partnership young people across Hull will not be able to access these opportunities. Engaging Education is proud to be part of such projects, and is just one of many businesses across Hull dedicated to giving the best possible chances for young people helping them to realise their business dreams and offer a wide variety of opportunities.
