Three months ago I was haggling two kilos of mangoes for P120. The vendor in a nearby mall (Yubengco) said the P75 a kilo of his mangoes is the best and the sweetest and no haggling. I settled for a kilo and the mangoes tasted more of calburo and all we need was a teaspoon of soy sauce to bring out the sweetness. Yesterday, I went to Tetuan, a stall near Pastor Bonus and bought 4 kilos of mangoes for P100. The vendor said his mangoes came from Manicahan, no calburo because weve suffered loses and its too much for us to spend more so we just leave the mangoes to ripe. He gave me sample to taste and I love the real native sweetness of his mango. A rich lady in a hi-lux parked and inquired about manongs mangoes prices. He said P25 a kilo and the rich woman haggled for P15 a kilo and shell buy 5 kilos. Manong pleads 20 a kilo is the most he can offer for 5 kilos up but the rich woman said still very expensive. I was already furious so I told the woman, few months ago we can afford P50 a kilo force to ripe mangoes now we are complaining for a quality one that costs P25? Took one from my plastic and urged her to taste. She loved the taste and bought 10 kilos for P20. Nakonsensya naman at please huwag nang baratin ang sobrang cheap na mangga. Am surr next few months prices will soar back to P50-P75.
