Three weeks ago 165 lbs was my 1 rep max. Yesterday I lifted it for 3 reps from a deficit, thanks to my current strength protocol: speed work and training in the strength zone, at different training percentages. Reclaiming my previous PR of 185 lbs is around the corner! Why train from a deficit? My weak point close to my max was getting the weight off the floor. By starting lower, Im making it much more difficult, so that when I go back to the regular height (ie using 45s) it will be easy.
