Three years ago today was Jims last day here on earth. Brandie misses him watching her compete. She has Daddy written on all of her spikes. She said the hardest thing for her is seeing me alone in the bleachers. Mathew misses their long man to man talks in the pool & hot tub. I miss getting his advice when it comes time to make a decision. I remember it as if it were yesterday. He faught to the very end, even walking out to the ambulance, not giving in to being carried out of the house on a gurnie. My only regret - he didnt say good-bye to King like he did every other time he left the house. I think sometimes he still sits in the window waiting for Jim to come home and give him treats. We were and continue to be surrounded by family and friends to help us every step of the way. My sister Helen called Father Basil in Hungary to say one last prayer with Jim. I know Jim was smiling and thanking all of his friends from the Perth Amboy and Woodbridge police departments for arranging the escort for his funeral. It was a great tribute to him. My brother-in law George calls me every morning just to make sure were ok. My brother-in law Pete is my go to for all of my financial and legal advice. My sister Karen is the mother that hovers over all of us since my mom passed away. She has some mighty big shoulders. My sister Sharon is the great listener and my brother Mike makes sure were never sitting home wallowing in our tears- getting us tickets to every Rutgers event possible. Even though he lives in Basking Ridge, Brandies godfather Rich Pavlik is here to help around the house whenever I call. Mathews godfather Tom Ratajczak reaches out to him to advise him on matters a mother wouldnt know anything about. Jims cousin Dawn regularly calls or texts me just to let me know shes thinking about us. There are so many more friends and family members that we are equally grateful to for reaching out and watching over us. All of them have played a part in making the last three years bareable. Thank you to anyone who read this entire post.
