Through Scholastic Canada, Mrs Hilsendegers students entered a reading contest with each student having a goal of reading at least 12 books. Then this amount of books, or more, would be awarded by the Scholastic Canada Company to others who are in need of reading material. Although this was not a regular contest, the students succeeded in this endeavour to help others. Recently, they received this letter to confirm that success. Dear Mrs. Lecuyer and Mrs. Hilsendeger, Thank you for your email and congratulations to you and your students for participating in Scholastic Canadas Holiday Reading Challenge. Thank you for helping to share the gift of reading with children who otherwise might not have the opportunity to own a book. With your help, we have donated 2500 books to the following Canadian charities: • Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau in British Columbia • Christmas Cheer Board in Manitoba • CHUM City Christmas Wish in Ontario • Literacy Coalition of New Brunswick in New Brunswick • Societe Radio-Canada in Quebec • Foundation du Dr. Julien in Quebec Thank you for taking part in this worthwhile program.
