Through the degeneration of my life due to a sustained injury and a legal battle, I was able to discover how to find strength in the midst of unfortunate circumstances. I was able overcome a deep depression and take control of my life due to successful weight loss, physical therapy and self-growth. Through the deceit and discrimination conveyed by my employer, I was able to unearth my abilities and ambitions within myself that I was wary to understand until now. In the waking hours of December 24th 2014, I was toiling about in the frigid elements inspecting vehicles when my foot slipped and my legs fell beneath me. As I laid there in my misfortune, I never anticipated a mishap would be the onset of a battle and journey that would challenge and transform my life forever. I spent days following the ringing of the New Year upon a heating pad, immobilized and in excruciating pain. I assumed that being off two weeks on vacation as well as taking it easy the physical symptoms would subside, I was wretchedly mistaken. It was time for me to contact my employer and seek further medical treatment for my injury. The claim process was moderately intense, with a lot of investigating and gathering of statements. In the documented report, I described falling directly on my lower back and my left knee bent underneath my body. The agency I worked for referred me to medical center examined and evaluated. The doctor upon evaluation, discovered evidence of a contusion to my left knee and a sprain and sprain to my lower back. I was prescribed pain medications and a list of restrictions that I was to abide by ‘til further notice. Weeks had passed and I still was in a substantial amount of discomfort. The human resources department contacted me every few days to get updates and acquire more statements about the accident. They said to call them if I was feeling better and not to worry about my work assignment. I sensed my employer felt compassionate about my recovery since I was a diligent worker of over 3 years, I was wrong. I received a letter from the Bureau of Workman’s Compensation and to my dismay, my employer had denied the claim allowance, I had to act fast and seek advice from a legal counselor. I was dreadfully uncertain of how I was going to support myself financially and pay for medical treatment with no insurance. Depressed, injured and feeling hopeless, my lawyer helped me file an appeal. I was unaware of the many challenges I was getting ready to tackle amidst this legal battle. I felt deceived and disregarded months in and out of court my employer tried to be deceptive and disregard my claim allowance however through a tough battle the BWC allowed my claim for a lumbar sprain and strain. The challenges I was facing.....(This is rough Draft)
