Through the miracle of technology, Im able to dictate my weekly reflection on the assigned article we had for this week concerning comprhensive curriculum reform. Recently I interviewed a department head at Syracuse University and she was gearing up for redesign of curriculum. As the department head of a multidisciplinary department she was looking at the curriculum redesign as daunting task which was about to involve conflict because she was asking professors from different departments to redo their curriculum in order to meet her departments required standards. If you remember from my presentation from the last class, she even created an advisory board to help build consensus around the need to redo curriculum. The article is really interesting in that it highlighted the need for good leadership for curriculum building. Im going to send Dr. lovely the article. I think it could be helpful. For my work, I really like the concept of a community of practice and the reform objective is treated as a learning experience and not a task. Good article. Kristen
