Throughout my life, including my travels around the globe I have - TopicsExpress

Throughout my life, including my travels around the globe I have always called St. Louis home. I have always longed to return to the city where I grew up, where my sports teams are, and most importantly my family. I am not so sure this is home anymore, or at least the home I have always known and loved. The events in Ferguson, which have been spurred on by opportunistic politicians, hucksters, and a complicit media, placed a heavy stress on the entire region. Under constant scrutiny by pundits and reporters looking for controversy and wrongdoing behind every curtain the country has formed an opinion. Their opinion is what is wrong with the people in Missouri that they would condone corruption, police violence, and oppression? Unfortunately this opinion has been shaped and allowed to take hold by elected people (I hesitate to call them leaders or officials because they exhibit none of those characteristics) looking to extend their influence, capitalize on tragedy, and expand political power. This is manifested most is the Alderman of the 21st Ward who has never put this much effort into his work for the City of St. Louis. These people have no interest in curtailing the lawless activities because they gain no benefit in that. They benefit by the television exposure afforded them by any two-bit clown with a iPhone camera and a mic.n Over the last couple of days we have simply seen a shift in the venue for the anarchists who have planted themselves here. People elected to represent the community owe an oath to the truth, the rule of law, and the freedom of everyone. We are being railroaded by politicians like our Governor who believes he knows more about tactical operations than Chief Jon Belmar. Lacy Clay, who rarely leaves Washington, spent so much time here he almost re-learned his way around the city. These people have called for the arrest and prosecution of a law enforcement officer without having any facts, nor requiring any facts. Last night people living in the area of Grand and Shaw, and surrounding neighborhoods were besieged in their homes by brick throwing, flag burning, domestic terrorists bent on destruction and violence. Where is our Governor, Sen. McCaskill, Lacy Clay, and all the other opportunists who jumped on the persecution bandwagon? They are nowhere to be seen because there is no benefit to them in stemming these activities. Where is our leadership? Where are the people who represent me? Why did I have to send MY kids to their mothers in the county because I didnt want them near this violence? Come looking for trouble on my street and that is exactly what youll get. My police protection is necessarily concentrated because of the actions of a few, and the protection of my neighborhood is compromised. How much can we ask of our police officers? Night after night of twelve hour shifts where they are spat upon, threatened, and pushed to the brink. It is only due to their professionalism that not a single protestor has been seriously injured or killed over the last two months. But that isnt front page material either. I no longer wish to live in a place where our leaders are at the front of lawless mobs and shooting craps with the lives of first responders. I would love to hear our Governor say on television that it is unacceptable that our police are shot at then not given the support they deserve. I wish. I am thinking a small ranch in Texas where if you step on my land youll get what youre looking for. An area where I can see the trouble coming, and not have it disguised as an elected official. Y ah, thats where my home will be.
