#ThrowBackThursday #GlennPark #TBT15 In early 2010, after a few years of negotiations, Jerry Ramshaw and Alex Ruggieri closed a deal enabling Ramshaw to acquire what was once known as Champaign Village. A once bustling retail center, this 143,120 square foot shopping center sat nearly empty only anchored by County Market and a few other retailers. Ramshaw had plans to begin extensive renovations on the property. The former Hobby Lobby space of 60,000 square feet was to be built-out into three smaller storefronts along with numerous other renovations. Headed by Ramshaw’s John Carson, several million dollars were invested into the project. The extensive renovations and re-brand paid off when Planet Fitness leased 23,000 square feet in 2011. The addition of this retailer increased the amount of monthly visitors to the shopping center to nearly 100,000 patrons. With the substantial amount of monthly visitors and daily traffic count of 35,000 vehicles, Ramshaw continued to market the desirable retail space. The transformation of what was once a run-down, empty space into an upscale shopping center can be credited to Ramshaws experience in development.
