Throwback Thursday: Twelve years ago this month, my legislation AB 2650 began moving through the State Senate after passing the Assembly 66-7. The bill required terminal operators at the ports of LA and Long Beach to limit diesel trucks waiting and idling at their gates to no more than 30 minutes. Eventually signed into law by Gov. Davis, the truck idling law was one of the first environmental laws specifically addressing the air pollution impacts of the ports. politeo.net/harbor/SoSn200207-story1.html
