Thumbs Up For President Ernest Koroma At last, it seems as if - TopicsExpress

Thumbs Up For President Ernest Koroma At last, it seems as if President Koroma has finally beaten or convinced his critics and others who were expecting his Agenda for Prosperity (AfP) to fail, recoil or go into oblivion, that the AfP is indeed bound to succeed against all odds because it is meant to develop the country as a whole and not just a handful of people or a particular region or tribe! We say this with authority because no less an authority than the African Development Bank (ADB) Group and its Executive Directors have on Wednesday, 18th September 2013 in Tunis approved Sierra Leone’s Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2013-2017, which outlines the Bank Group’s programmatic support to enable Sierra Leone to transition out of fragility while ensuring the country’s overall development sustainability. In other words, what this means is that the ADB Group is in total support of President Koroma’s Agenda for Prosperity by financially backing it to the hilt because it sees in the Agenda a way out of poverty and penury for the bulk of Sierra Leoneans here. Unarguably and because Sierra Leone’s CSP is aligned with the Government’s Agenda for Prosperity (A4P or AfP), as well as the Bank Group’s key policies including the evolving New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States for which Sierra Leone is a pilot country, are the main reasons why President Koroma’s Agenda for change could not be overlooked. It is therefore our conviction and belief at THE TRUNPET that as long as President Koroma’s Agenda for Change has been approved for support by no less an authority that the ADB, Sierra Leoneans especially the “doubting Thomases” should now feel rest assured that with our cooperation added to the ADB support, the sky to making Sierra Leone the envy of sub-Saharan Africa is our limit. We need not emphasize the other fact that quite recently, the outgoing UNIPSIL boss referred to Sierra Leone as no longer being a country in conflict but rather a country that is now contributing her troops to peace keeping operations in conflict zones around the world! We cannot but end this piece by doffing our hats first to President Koroma for coming up with such a bright idea and secondly to the ADB group for the confidence reposed in our President and the support they have pledged to make the Agenda for Prosperity a reality!
