*Thunderstorm update: We continue to be outlooked for possible severe weather and flooding tonight. Despite the clouds and stable conditions now, majority of guidance isnt backing off on severe weather. In fact, this latest SPC severe probability has a pretty clear idea that we arent out of the woods with 30-45% severe probs within 25 miles of a given point -- which is a respectable threat. Given the stout disturbance digging ahead of the cold front, it wont take much to destabilize the atmosphere. Even if we dont manage to get sun today, it wont matter to much as activity will likely come in after dark and wind/shear profiles may compensate for lack of any extreme instability. Main concern is for damaging winds, but the heavy rainfall is also a concern with over 2 of water evaporated as shown in the second image.
