Thursday, 28th August,2014 St Augustine, Bishop and Doctor Mt 24:42-46 Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect. ‘Who, then, is the wise and trustworthy servant whom the master placed over his household to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed that servant if his masters arrival finds him doing exactly that. TODAYS POINTERS ON GODS WORD As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention? •In today’s Gospel, Jesus cautions us to be vigilant in the practice of our faith so that we will be ready at all times to “meet Him”, for none of us knows when this hour will come. •In our vigilant preparation to “meet Jesus” we are each called to live the Gospel of Christ daily. •Let us pray that we continue to be receptive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our daily living so that we will continue to live a discerned life and not make hasty and irrational decisions that are not Christ-like.
