Thursday 9th October, inspired by Stephen I set off on a holiday to Peru. Number 46 (and last on Stephen’s bucket list) was to visit the Inca city of Machu Picchu. Stephen didnt cross this one off his list but was given the opportunity last year – he didnt take up the offer because he was undergoing treatment and because he was having so much fun with the Charity work. I decided to cross this off his list for him . I had an incredible 15 days touring Peru with Machu Picchu being the long anticipated and very emotional highlight on day 12. Thank you to everyone at Travelsphere holidays who made this happen. Eliot,Sheetal and our amazing tour manager Alison who was so much fun .I met some lovely people and made some new friends. Sandie, Nicola and Shelagh the holiday was made even more special because of your company .I came back home with some fabulous memories from my brilliant adventure in Peru. Radio One Teen Awards – Sunday 19th October Radio 1 hosted their annual Teen Hero Awards on 19th October at Wembley Arena. They were really keen to create a special teen hero award in honour of Stephen as the past year had shown to all that he is the Ultimate Teen Hero. The award focused on his amazing fundraising, and was called the Stephen Sutton award for Teen Fundraiser of the Year. In future years it will be awarded to young fundraisers at the annual Teen Awards Ceremony. The award will not focus on amount raised but will concentrate on the achievement undertaken with the aim of fundraising. The first Stephen Sutton Teen Hero Award winner was Jack Marshall. Jack aged 16 was born with a rare neurological disease called Moebius Syndrome. It means he has no balance or co-ordination, is blind in his left eye, deaf in both ears and has no facial nerves. Despite that he says a disability isnt anything bad and just makes him special. Jack and the other Teen Heroes picked up their awards at Wembley Arena in front of 10,000 people. Unfortunately, I was away on holiday but Chris attended and presented the award to Jack . There’s a video link below which shows how amazing Jack is and his family must be so proud of him .In the video he talks about how he wants to make Stephen and my family proud and I’ve no doubt that he will do just that. What an incredible young man. youtu.be/1VWN9vYmrzQ
