Thursday January 8 we lost a giant and icon in the field of Gospel - TopicsExpress

Thursday January 8 we lost a giant and icon in the field of Gospel music. Pastor Andraé Crouch transitioned to glory at age 72. I, among so many others, have been influenced by this mans great ministry, and his catalogue of music is too vast to count here. Soon and Very Soon is published in numerous hymnals throughout the world, and at any given communion service, one is likely to hear The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power. One of my favorite recordings is his second release of the classic My Tribute (To God Be the Glory). What captured my attention on this 1982 version from the recording FINALLY was the arrangement and orchestration. As a classically trained musician, my ears were drawn to the sonic bed of colors that coursed through the air. Pure genius. Subsequent recordings were an even greater marvel, with The Journey arguably a summation of his musical and theological prowess. (How many of us today are singing Let the Church Say Amen? A great servant of God has transitioned from labor to reward. May we all continue to follow in his footsteps. https://youtube/watch?v=f1E_4ooa8bo
