Thursday September 25, 2014 Evening Devotional ~ Hope When Theres No Hope ~ Read: Mark 5:24-26 Life can be bleak when all resources are spent. Maybe youve been there. Maybe youre there now. Perhaps today, you received some bad news that has left you emotionally destitute and wondering aimlessly in the dark. Youre not alone. Imagine yourself as the one with an incurable disease with no where else to turn. From doctor to doctor as well as every medicine imaginable and still...no sign of improvement. Yes...this kind of bad news on top of bad news can beat even the strongest person down. This...is EXACTLY where this woman was. The Scripture says... ...she had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse-- Mark 5:26 Can you imagine? For twelve long years and having exhausted all of her financial resources, she now stands broke and worse off physically than before the sickness began. Oh my goodness...talking about a heart breaking story! There tonight friend? Been a long day? Had some bad news on top of some other bad news? I understand. It can ABSOLUTELY beat you down to where you wonder if you can put another foot ahead of the other. Heres some good news this evening my dear friend. Theres some help and hope available. Please understand...Im not saying you will instantly become pain or trouble free, Rather, Jesus offers you this very evening, a new passage way to obtaining the hope you so desire for your life. Healing often comes by way of process. Dont get me wrong. Jesus can and often heals instantly, but my experience has shown that more times than not, He sends us through a journey of healing and or learning. Either its the process of healing through medicine and medical advice/counsel or the spiritual tutor of the Holy Spirit working in our lives on a daily basis. A breakthrough, however, does come! Look at verses 27-29 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment, because she thought, If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed. Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering. Did you catch that? If I (can) just touch his clothes.... This dear woman had enough faith to where, in her mind, all she needed to do was just get in the vicinity of our Lord, and everything...EVERYTHING was going to be ok! Okay...okay so she actually said If I just touch His clothes.... Okay...well give her that. But think with me for a moment. Touch His clothes? Really? Why not...If I may but have a face to face to conversation with Him? Or...If I may have him stop by my home and visit with me...? But touch His clothes? Yes...such a simple statement but profound theology. Friend...away with the notion that you have to be in a suit and tie to come to Him. He accepts you JUST the way you are with faults and failures. Come to Him tonight no matter your status, occupation or even where you live. He accepts and welcomes you. Cause heres the good news...! Your victory is coming! Just come to Him and trust Him! He WILL NOT let you down!! Please have a restful and peace filled evening my friend...things are going to get better for you! :-)
