Thursday September 4th - Where did the week go? By Carol Buzalsky — 11 minutes ago Its been a crazy week. The first week of each month is my crazy time at work (well every day can be crazy, but the 1st week of the month more so than most!). DeAnn had planned to spend the week with mom so I could work. DeAnn ended up with a very bad cold so she was unable to be with mom. Its made for a few long days keeping up with work and spending time with mom so my updates had to be put on hold. Mom started out the week doing ok. DeAnn posted on Tuesday on Facebook a picture and update of mom sitting in a chair. The days have gotten a bit rougher for mom as the week goes. Today she is really tired and is struggling again with her breathing. She is maintaining her oxygen levels, but is frustrated as she feels she is short of breath. She continues to push through with therapy this week, but has done very little on her own as the week has gone by. We did get good news yesterday in that another cardiologist and a CV surgeon reviewed moms angiogram and determined the blockage to be at only 50% and not 70%. This means no by pass surgery or stent surgery is needed for mom before having the heart valve surgery. Mom and I had a long and difficult talk this week regarding the status of her health. Her catch 22 remains. If she doesnt have heart surgery she will continue to encounter health issues that she will not be able to overcome. If she does have the heart surgery it is a very very tough surgery to get through and recover from. Mom was pretty depressed as she wants to keep going but is so frustrated this has happened to her. Mom is still trying to smile and I can get a good smile from her every now and then, but today has been especially difficult for her breathing. Pastor Rosebrough came to visit mom yesterday. The timing of his visit was perfect due to the conversations mom and I were having. Today a chaplain from Sanford came by to check on mom and prayer for her. I continue to believe that God has brought us to this point for a purpose and that we should all keep moving forward towards heart surgery, but there are moments when it is so difficult to stay positive, especially when mom gets so sad. Dad will be with mom on Friday and Sunday and DeAnn will be here on Saturday. Prayers for mom to have better days with less difficulty breathing and for DeAnn to feel better soon from her awful cold.
