Thus says the Lord : "Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, "We will not walk in it." I set watchmen over you, saying, "Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!" But they said, "We will not pay attention." (Jeremiah 6:16, 17 ESV) He is the Ancient of Days calling his people back to the Ancient Path. Many will refuse to return to this ancient path that is distanced from the World and the culture. The modern church has become embedded with worldly terms and cultural relevance thus the simplicity of the Ancient path has been long forgotten in many places. The 8 lane highway of the modern church and its leaders have disconnected themselves from the slow pace of the path and the call to listen, watch and observe the amazing depth of God in the simplicity of spiritual life. May we hear and heed the call to return to the simplicity that is in Christ. May we leave the worldly highway and return to the Highway of Holiness.
