◆ Tibetan people have had and are continuing to have their beautiful country stolen from them. Their families properties are being environmentally exploited and destroyed. They are arrested and tortured for peaceful protests and things as little as having a picture of the Dalai Lama or speaking out the words Free Tibet or Long Live His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Many are separated from their families to escape persecution, choosing to make the dangerous walk through the Himalayas to India, Bhutan or Nepal just to get back some of their basic human rights. But its more than that. Much more. Tibetan people posses a spirit that is hard to find anywhere else in the world - the spirit of love and compassion. Its a special kind of spirit that when asked how they feel about the Chinese Government, almost all Tibetan people say they do not hate or wish any harm upon those that supress them, they only want to understand. Its the kind of spirit that in the face of what seems like an unattainable dream - to have a free Tibet - they do not give up and give in to anger or hatred. Instead, when asked what makes them happy, most Tibetans say that making other people happy makes them happy. Its a spirit that Tibetans inherently possess from centuries of culture and religion, and somehow cannot be dampened by laws, beatings or even loss of freedom. The rest of the world needs that spirit to be alive and to grow. The Tibetans both in Tibet and outside are a lesson to us on how to treat one another. They are an example to us of the power and powerfulness of non-violence. They are a reminder to us of what we are doing and should be doing. And they are the embodiment of love and compassion - and the world can always use a little more of that. ● → Retirado de um flyer sobre The Happiness of Tibetans in Exile que acabei de receber.
