Tim and I attempted to re-queen my aggressive hive that we moved - TopicsExpress

Tim and I attempted to re-queen my aggressive hive that we moved to a remote location on Kane Creek. We made two attempts both yesterday and today to find the old queen. We were unsuccessful both days because of the hoards of nasty, in your face, aggressive bees. I have worked some mean, nasty bees over the years but these are truly a challenge. They may rank right up there with Jerrys Escalante Five. At Jerrys suggestion, in a day or so, we will divide the hive in three sections with queen excluders, give them a week or so to calm down then inspect the hive again for new eggs and larvae. The section with eggs and new larvae will be the one containing the queen. We should be able to find and dispatch her. Friend Jerry has asked to be included in the crew that does the queen search. If you would like to be included in the crew, it will be a day you will not soon forget. Both yesterday and today are vividly burned in my memory. I also suspect the sign up list will a be short.
