Time Apart for God 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 17 Therefore ADONAI - TopicsExpress

Time Apart for God 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 17 Therefore ADONAI says, Go out from their midst; separate yourselves; dont even touch what is unclean. Then I myself will receive you. In fact, I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters. says ADONAI-Tzvaot. Sha’ul is teaching the Corinthians to separate themselves from sin. Chapters 3 through 6 Sha’ul has been telling the Corinthians to be direct with their witnessing and to separate themselves from their sinful nature. Both good advice today, but even as I was reading and being drawn to the last verses of chapter 6, I think sometimes there is something that we as “active” believers miss, that time we are to retreat and spend time with God alone. I not necessarily saying physically alone, I think God honors time we spend with Him corporately, but that we separate ourselves from the dead of this world and commune with our Father. We have fine examples of why we should; Moshe went up the mountain and was given the Ten Commandments. The witness of Daniel praying alone to God took him through a trial that brought revelation to a pagan nation Daniel 6:25-28 25 King Daryavesh wrote all the peoples, nations and languages living anywhere on earth: Shalom rav! [Abundant peace!] 26 I herewith issue a decree that everywhere in my kingdom, people are to tremble and be in awe of the God of Daniel. For he is the living God; he endures forever. His kingdom will never be destroyed; his rulership will last till the end. 27 He saves, rescues, does signs and wonders both in heaven and on earth. He delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. 28 So this Daniel prospered during the reign of Daryavesh, and also during the reign of Koresh the Persian. And we have Yeshua himself taking time to go off from the crowds and commune with the Father in prayer. So time apart from this world of sin, that we are to be a witness to, is vital. It is in that time that ADONAI Tzva’ot the Lord of Host will refit and rearm us for the days ahead and be encouraged to continue as it says in Isaiah 40:26-31 26 Turn your eyes to the heavens! See who created these? He brings out the army of them in sequence, summoning each by name. Through his great might and his massive strength, not one of them is missing. 27 Why do you complain, Yaakov; why do you say, Israel, My way is hidden from ADONAI, my rights are ignored by my God? 28 Havent you known, havent you heard that the everlasting God, ADONAI, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not grow tired or weary? His understanding cannot be fathomed. 29 He invigorates the exhausted, he gives strength to the powerless. 30 Young men may grow tired and weary, even the fittest may stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in ADONAI will renew their strength, they will soar aloft as with eagles wings; when they are running they wont grow weary, when they are walking they wont get tired. Just seeing that God will call each one of us by name to pass in review in that great and glorious day, to know that by His infinite power none will be missing, is already today making me feel stronger for the trials I will have to face ahead. All this so one day like Sha’ul quoting Isaiah 52 will see Jerusalem restored and Yeshua returned. 1 Awake! Awake, Tziyon! Clothe yourself with your strength! Dress in your splendid garments, Yerushalayim, the holy city! For the uncircumcised and the unclean will enter you no more. 2 Shake off the dust! Arise! Be enthroned, Yerushalayim! Loosen the chains on your neck, captive daughter of Tziyon! 3 For thus says ADONAI: You were sold for nothing, and you will be redeemed without money. 4 For thus says Adonai ELOHIM: Long ago my people went down to Egypt to live there as aliens, and Ashur oppressed them for no reason. 5 So now, what should I do here, asks ADONAI, since my people were carried off for nothing? Their oppressors are howling, says ADONAI, and my name is always being insulted, daily. 6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore on that day they will know that I, the one speaking - here I am! 7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, proclaiming shalom, bringing good news of good things, announcing salvation and saying to Tziyon, Your God is King! 8 Listen! Your watchmen are raising their voices, shouting for joy together. For they will see, before their own eyes, ADONAI returning to Tziyon. 9 Break out into joy! Sing together, you ruins of Yerushalayim! For ADONAI has comforted his people, he has redeemed Yerushalayim! 10 ADONAI has bared his holy arm in the sight of every nation, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. 11 Leave! Leave! Get out of there! Dont touch anything unclean! Get out from inside it, and be clean, you who carry ADONAIs temple equipment. 12 You need not leave in haste, you do not have to flee; for ADONAI will go ahead of you, and the God of Israel will also be behind you. 13 See how my servant will succeed! He will be raised up, exalted, highly honored! 14 Just as many were appalled at him, because he was so disfigured that he didnt even seem human and simply no longer looked like a man, 15 so now he will startle many nations; because of him, kings will be speechless. For they will see what they had not been told, they will ponder things they had never heard.
