Time and time again... I am reminded how shallow most people are... how people can feign a friendship.... pretend to be supportive... but when it comes down to it... they are around you for what you can do for them. I dont want to become bitter towards the world... I dont want to look at everyone that comes into my life with a cynical eye... I dont know if that is naïve... but I guess that is inevitable the older you get because if life has taught me anything thus far its that when you get down to brass tacks... you are lucky if you even have a handful of true, loving, supportive and loyal people in your life... and that includes family. Im sorry... If Im nice to you... If Im your friend... its because I care for you honestly. Im not just there when good things happen in your life and youre riding high... Im there during your hardest times... when most people would quickly run away... or pretend not to notice and avoid you altogether. To me the greatest and most valuable trait a person can have is loyalty and that is a rare thing to find. It drives me crazy to be surrounded by fake ass people.... that are just mimicking civility and friendliness. To me they are so transparent... and I would rather not talk to you at all or just be civil and professional than to pretend to be something Im not... Life is too short to waist your energy on those sad souls that smile but want to tear you down and not see you succeed and be happy. In the end, its not how much money youve accumulated... how many awards or accolades youve received but how you lived your life... The secret to life is to appreciate all that you do have... not the things that you dont... Youre life changes immediately if you change expectations to appreciation.
