Time for an UPDATE!!! I am approaching the end of RECOVERY WEEK - TopicsExpress

Time for an UPDATE!!! I am approaching the end of RECOVERY WEEK 5! The first several weeks were great and then I had a little week long set back. I had persistent nausea and vomiting which actually landed me in the ER for several hours. Fortunately, we were able to get it all under control and I was able to get back to recovery mode. Life has presented a new set of challenges as I learn to adjust to life with less stomach. The surgery was traumatic and my body will slowly have to adjust to the changes. Prayer and humor will get me where I need to be! ;) (Secret to success!) In addition to the sub total gastrectomy (partial stomach removal) - I also had things done that I am still trying to learning about. I had a total omenectomy (removal of abdominal lining), my vagus nerve (longest running nerve in the body) was severed (I did put in a request for this nerve to remain intact during surgery, but no luck), 21 lymph nodes removed - so with all the missing body parts - you can only imagine how my body has to adjust to its new state of being! But LIFE GOES ON! I am thrilled to eat all the frozen fruit popsicles I want but look forward to when I can sit down and actually eat a meal with my family again. Despite the challenges, I am so blessed and thankful to still be here to spend time with my family and friends. I have great faith in how my body is designed to heal - it is so intricately designed and amazing - time will heal my body!! Your continued prayers and support for our family is the best medicine and I THANK YOU!!!!
