Time for another......BRAG ALERT!!!! I have a brag: My PDD-NOS 5 year old is in his second summer in (typical) day camp. Last year he had a full-time facilitator who he was very attached to. This summer for the first 3 weeks he had a facilitator who was asked to support his independence. For the current 3 weeks, starting last Monday, he is getting a little extra support from the camp counselors without a facilitator. He is in a group with two (typical) twin boys he has known a long time and who were in the previous camp group. I spoke to the inclusion coordinator this morning, and she said that while he still cries for me from time to time, he has attached himself to the twins and does well and participates as long as they are there! The boys mother told me that both boys say my son is their best friend in the group. So fantastic for a kid who barely achieved parallel play last year in school.
