Time for critical thinking! Saudi Arabia has banned pilgrims - TopicsExpress

Time for critical thinking! Saudi Arabia has banned pilgrims from West Africa to their country over Ebola pandemic. Israel and Vatican may soon follow suit. Now, for decades, Africans has been wasting millions of dollars on religious tourism of these countries just to go and commune with their gods and get spirtual cleansing, blessings and upliftment. All those while, the Saudis have been collecting those money and welcoming West African tourists with joy, and their gods in mecca has been very happy with the profits. But now that the same West Africans who pays the bills through which these gods are sustained have been stricken with pestilences, the sames gods who have been collecting their money rejected them, preventing them from entering their country. What stops these gods in mecca from stretching forth their hands to give their suffering customers a miraculous cleansing and healing?? Is it fair enough to be collecting tourism money and using same to build skyscrappers, well paved roads and streets, bubbling economy, payment of effortless salaries to your citizens and then turn around to deny those paying the bills in the time of need?? Thats injustice! Africa is the most poorly developed continent in the world. Most of her component countries rely on aids and free donors from other nations to operate their budgets. You hardly find any world class hospitals, education system or manufacturing industries that builds the economy. The commonest and flourishing industries you can easily find on the streets of Africa are gigantic churches and mosques and other foreign religious edifices. You hardly get the best scientists, medical doctors, engineers, or inventors in any of the countries in Africa who has distinguished themselves in their profession or in the world at large. You hardly find the best universities or phamarceutical industries doing researches on a subject or inventing methods. All you can easily find in Africa are pastors and imams, sheiks and bishops and all manner of religious figure-heads distorting the mindsets of people. If all the costly pilgrimages over the years by Africans to worship Mecca, Israeli and Vatican foreign stones and monuments are that spiritually effective, there would have been an instant solution to the devastating Ebola and Aids pestilences. This should tell everyone that those pilgrimages are mere journeys made for religious piety and to help nourish those countrys economies. This is time for mecca, Israeli and Vatican gods to prove to Africans who has been patronising them with pilgrim money that they are their gods who would never desert them when in need. But instead of crying to those gods for help, Africa is crying to America for help. If Africans had developed common sense, the millions of dollars they had been wasting over the years on those religious tourisms to worship foreign stones would have been used to train and develop their own world class scientists, phamarcists, engineers, architects and so forth who would be making discoveries on many human issues. Build world class universities for such purposes. If that had happened, by now, African trained medical doctors, professionals and scientists would have been nose-deep in their various labouratories and microscopes scrambling and doing research to see who would first discover the cure for the killer Ebola virus. But instead of that, they are on bended knees begging America to give them the one they had laboured for years to produce. Africa should as a matter of fact and urgency de-emphasize on religion and focus more of their strengths on science and discoveries. Focus more on building a society that sees life and the world in general in its absoluteness and reality. What is the purpose of wasting your career years and resources in trying to get the attention of mere stones and monuments in foreign lands for your spiritual upliftments, when such things cannot help you in time of distress or give you the wisdom to confront life challenges?? Africa should quit wasting their resources and wealth patronising foreign gods and stones who would become ineffective when distress and disaster calls. They should invest their energy on science, discoveries, researches and inventions. By so doing, she will be amongst the conteninents telling the world what to do. -Okey Igbokwe Whats your opinion about this?
