Time for my contentious post of the week...Im going for Scottish Independence! Now..at this junction Im not saying I would be a yes or a no...either way my voice is irrelevant in this democratic choice of nationality! I am me, born and raised in the land of Scotland. I am proud and I am passionate about my country in every shape and form, cut me and I bleed tartan, I have a connection with my home that will never leave me. Though through my own personal choice and to better myself, I left the land of my birth nearly seven years ago to improve myself and lead a better life such was the opportunity that was presented at this time. It was my choice not only as a Scotsman but as a citizen of Great Britain and the United Kingdom to move around our unified land with out the need of a visa or other documentation to prove my birth place. However, after years of paying taxes and national insurance during my time at home, contributing to the economy and being a part of an upstanding community it seems that when the future of my country comes into question I will not have a say. If the vote goes the way of the yes campaign my nationality will change without allowing me a say in the process. This is whole heartedly wrong on so many levels. I could go to bed on the night in question belonging to one country and wake up the next belonging to another! The process is wrong, no matter how you intend to vote this is something that needs to be raised. I know that Im not the only ex pat that feels this way. No doubt Ill get some cheeky arse comment about if you feel so strongly about it move home etc though why the hell should I! Im entitled to live out with the borders of my country just as I am entitled to have a say about the future of my country. Yet, if your British (English, welsh and northern Irish) from the Republic of Ireland or EU and live in Scotland you can have a vote! So much for a democratic process...bet Sean Connery gets a vote!!! yesscotland.net/answers/who-can-vote-referendum-scottish-independence
