Time to wake up. It is a very high time for the Somali intellectuals where ever in the world they are to create what is called the unity of wisdoms. The concept is about allowing wisdoms to unite while even other differences remain. It is about collecting all wisdoms & logic thinking capabilities that are accumulated in the brains of the brilliant Somali intellectuals & use the united intelligence force against differences due to tribal obsessions and many other invisible obstacles to the stability and well being of Somalia. This unity of the minds can lead different Somali intellectuals in all over the world to see the high need to save the nation while at the same time there can exist many political and ideological differences. There are many crises and tragedies that we came across during the 24 years of man-made disaster and civil war in the country and there is a small window through which I can smell the sweet smell of peace and stability. I have to choose to either look back and spend time on remembering & talking about the sad days of the past OR concentrating on how I can put all my efforts to look through this open window, get the fresh air of hope and stand up to use my brain so that my people can live a normal life. I have to choose between two options – either to sit & put my destiny in the hands of ignorant people OR think & act united with other intellectuals like me, irrespective of which tribe or region they belong to. I have to choose between just dreaming & reading negative news items about my people & nation while sitting in front of a PC in a well furnished building in Stockholm OR joining any effort from serious intellectuals that will stand up to play a role in finding an everlasting peace in my unfortunate nation. There are communities in the world that suffered the same huge disunity and crippled nationhood just like Somalia is facing today and the continuous pain & suffering led them to build a strong nationhood that is based on unity among all the different peoples in the country. Somalia can and will follow suit, Inshallah. We are in the worst ideological crisis today and much to the point that professors, former ministers, religious elders openly talk with proud about tribe and encourage their young followers to be staunch believers of tribalism. Intellectual elders who were my role model have started taking this path and I was shocked and wondered if I was the only Somali in this world who is still a patriotic & believes in Somali nationhood. I know I am not the only one. There are many reasons that the disunity and lack of cooperation among the Somali communities, intellectuals, political leaders, religious scholars continuously persist among us and we can overcome these problems by seeing things through logical binoculars. Both good and bad reasons are equally damaging. There is a chain of reactions that are beyond our control and some of us can not even observe them. There is a chain reaction of continuous revenges and imitations from the past political happenings in the country during the central government in Somalia and the uncontrollable desire of gaining financial benefits at the cost of the citizens’ well being. There are also circumstances created by unseen players that make things suitable for any ruling regime in Somalia to become more corrupt government than dedicated patriotic leaders. Unspoken messages read to the new and inexperienced Somali president like this: “You just have one four year period to rule the country and we will definitely campaign for a new leader when your limited power period is over, so it is up to you to decide. If you just want to vacate the seat empty handed or draw as much as you can for your family and near clan members. ” The president takes the bait in most of the cases since it goes without saying that he will have much to lose if he leaves empty handed because nobody will even believe that he did not become rich during his leadership. It is widely believed in Somalia that sitting on the seat of highest political power chair in today’s Somalia will make one the richest Somali in the world. The unity of Somali wisdom must take place soon so that we fight both visible and invisible problems. Please, please, please, please , please, please join me in realising a big dream… the dream of the small Somali child , the dream of the old Somali lady and your dream , my dream and every Somali citizens dream. There is no other proper time to wake up than now. it is time to wake up . let us wake up…
